5 Simple ways to support your immune system this Autumn.

21/10/2025

As the leaves start to turn and the temperature drops a little, many of us start to feel the effects of the seasonal shift - runny noses, scratchy throats, and that familiar early-autumn tiredness.

But here’s the good news: there’s a lot you can do to support your immune system naturally, and it doesn’t require drastic changes.

Just a few small, intentional tweaks to your daily routine can go a long way in helping your body stay strong, balanced, and more resilient as we move into the colder months.

Here are five simple, osteopath-approved tips to help you stay well this autumn!

1. Get outside daily - even when it’s grey or raining!

Fresh air, daylight and movement are all essential for immune health. A short daily walk helps regulate your nervous system, boosts your circulation, and supports vitamin D levels, even on cloudy days.

Top tip: Try a walk first thing in the morning, it helps set up your body clock for better sleep at night too.

2. Prioritise Restorative Sleep

Your immune system does a lot of repair work while you sleep. With the change in seasons, now’s a great time to re-establish a calming bedtime routine.

Top Tips -

Keep your room cool and dark.

Avoid screens for at least 30 - 60 minutes before bed.

Try a warm bath, gentle stretching, or a herbal tea to wind down.

Not sleeping well? Let’s talk about it at your next appointment, there may be physical reasons we can help with.

3. Eat for Energy and Immunity

Autumn offers plenty of nourishing, seasonal foods that naturally support immune function, think butternut squash, sweet potatoes, leafy greens, garlic and warming spices.

Aim for:

Colourful vegetables with every meal.

Adequate protein to help fuel muscle and body repair.

Hydration (yes, even when it’s cooler!)

Sometimes, simple changes to what’s on your plate can make all the difference to how you feel.

4. Keep your body moving

Movement keeps your lymphatic system working efficiently, which is a key part of your body’s defence system.

Stretching, walking, yoga, or even dancing in the kitchen all help. And if you’re dealing with stiffness or pain, we can help you find ways to move that feel good again.

5. Book your body a reset

Osteopathy helps to support your circulation, lymphatic flow, and nervous system, three vital pillars of a strong immune system. Whether you’re feeling run down, stiff, or just want to stay ahead of things, now’s a great time for a check-in.

Think of it as a seasonal tune-up for your body, so you can move through the rest of Autumn with more energy and ease.

September 2025 - A Fresh Start for Your Body and Mind

15/10/2025

There’s something about September that for many of us feels like a second New Year.
The new school year starts, the holiday season is coming to an end, and the nights are just starting to get a bit longer. Whether or not you have kids heading back to a classroom, this time of year naturally invites reflection and often a desire to get back into good habits.
Maybe your body’s feeling a little stiff, tired, or out of sync after the summer. You’ve been out of your usual routine but the good news?
You don’t need a total overhaul, just a few small shifts can help you reset and feel better fast.
Here are three simple ways to support your body and mind this September:
1. Reset Your Daily Movement
After a summer of travel, long car journeys or flights, or even just lazy beach days, some people feel less mobile. Just 5-10 minutes of intentional movement a day can help.
Try this:
Morning mobility: Gently roll your shoulders, stretch your arms overhead, and do a few hip circles as you boil the kettle.
Evening walk: A brisk 10-minute walk after dinner helps digestion and eases you into better sleep.
Little and often is the key, and if anything feels off, painful or stuck, don’t push through it. That’s what I'm here for.
2. Bring back a routine, your body will thank you!
Our bodies thrive on rhythms, especially when it comes to sleep, eating and movement. If the summer threw your routine out of balance, now’s the time to gently bring it back.
Aim to go to bed and wake up at consistent times, even on weekends.
Plan meals ahead where you can, to avoid last-minute choices that leave you feeling sluggish.
Schedule your next osteopathy session to keep things ticking over, not just when something hurts.
You’ll be amazed how quickly your energy levels and clarity improve with just a bit of structure.
3. Check in with your stress levels
September often brings a flurry of to-do lists. If your shoulders are up by your ears or your jaw is clenched by 10am, it might be time to pause!
Try a simple body check-in:
Take three deep breaths.
Notice where you’re holding tension.
See if you can soften the tension, even just a little bit.
Remember, your nervous system and muscles are closely linked. Supporting one helps the other.
Need a reset? We’re here to help.
Osteopathy isn’t just for pain relief. It’s a proactive way to support your whole system - body, mind and mood included. If you’re ready to step into autumn feeling more grounded, mobile and calm, now’s a great time to book in.
